Bigger and Better: Hillfields Summer Fair Returns After Last Year’s Huge Success

Last year’s Hillfields Summer Fair brought the community together in spectacular style — with packed crowds, live music, delicious food, and activities for all ages creating one of the area’s most talked-about summer events. Families, neighbours, and local groups filled the day with laughter, music, and celebration, making it a huge success for everyone involved.

And this year’s fair is set to be even bigger and better.

The FREE community event returns to Hillfields Community Garden with an even more exciting line-up of entertainment, activities, and local stalls designed to bring the whole community together once again.

Visitors can look forward to:
  • 🥁 Live samba music from Casa de Bamba
  • 🎶 Performances from talented local musicians
  • 🍰 Cakes and delicious food stalls
  • 🥗 Fresh falafel bowls (VG/GF) available for £5/£6
  • 🛍️ Community stalls and local information
  • 🎨 Face painting
  • 🪴 Plant sale
  • 🎯 Games and activities for all ages
  • 🚴 Free BMX sessions with Access Sport BMX Club — with bikes and helmets provided
As part of our ongoing climate and nature work, this year’s Summer Fair will feature a range of engaging stalls designed to help visitors take practical steps towards a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle.

Visitors can book a bike maintenance course with Sam and learn how to keep their bicycle in top condition with support from Bike Bristol.

There will also be the opportunity to discover the art of composting with Alex from Generation Soil, offering simple, hands-on ways to turn food and garden waste into something beneficial for your soil.

For those looking for advice on reducing energy use at home, representatives from Bristol Energy Network will be on hand to provide guidance and support.

Visitors can also book a free home visit with Retrofit West to explore ways to lower energy bills, keep homes cooler in summer, and retain warmth during the winter months.

In addition, members of Hillfields CAN (Climate And Nature) will be sharing insights into the benefits of installing water butts and planting trees in the garden, highlighting simple actions that can make a meaningful difference to local biodiversity and water conservation.
Sarah Rogers, CEO and Co-Founder of the charity, says the aim is simple: "Create a joyful day where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re coming for the music, the food, the family activities, or just to spend time with neighbours and friends."

After the incredible turnout and atmosphere last year, expectations are high for an even larger celebration this summer — so don’t miss it! Make sure you come along and be part of one of Hillfields’ biggest community events of the year.
