Winter Lantern Parade
Join us at Hillfields Park Community Centre for our family-friendly lantern making workshops, where all materials and guidance are provided. Bring a plastic bottle if you’d like to make a fixed lantern, or choose from our recyclable designs. LED lights are provided for the parade, and there is a suggested donation of £2. No booking is required. The lanterns created will take part in our Annual Hillfields Lantern Parade on Saturday 22nd November. The parade begins outside Hillfields Library (BS16 4HL) at 4:30pm and will make its way through the streets of Hillfields, led by a musical band. It finishes at Hillfields Community Garden with hot chocolate, cakes, and music. This event is a wonderful way for the community to come together and celebrate the autumn evenings with light, music, and creativity. |

Wassail
Our annual WASSAIL took place on January 19th. This year we sang traditional wassail songs with Sorrel Wilde Community Singing, danced with Pigsty Morris. There was also cakes, hot wassail juice (warmed/spiced apple juice) and hang toast on the apple trees. The Wassail King and Queen lead the ceremony to bless our apple trees to bring a good harvest and to ward away any bad spirits lurking in the branches! This ancient tradition has been taking place in orchards for hundreds of years! Everyone is welcome! To join next years volunteer group please join here. |
